About Dr Eisen Liang

MBBS (UNSW Hons1) FRCR FRANZCR

Dr Liang graduated with First Class Honours from UNSW in 1988. After his internship and residency at Westmead Hospital, he started his radiology training in Hong Kong. He was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (London) in 1995 and the fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Radiologists in 1997.

He has been an interventional radiologist at Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAN) since 2004. He founded Sydney Interventional Radiology Associates in 2014 to engage a group of interventionists to further improve the provision of interventional radiology services to support hospital specialists and local GPs. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer for University of Sydney Medical School. 

Dr Eisen Liang developed a special interest in gynaecological interventions such as Uterine Fibroid Embolisation (UFE), adenomyosis embolisation (UAE) and ovarian vein embolisation for pelvic congestion syndrome.

He performed his first UFE in 1998 and has been performing UFE at Sydney Adventist Hospital since 2007. He presented the result of the first series of UFE on Australian women at the 2011 Annual Scientific Meeting of RANZCOG. The paper was published in April 2012 ANZJOG.

He also has special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of adenomyosis. His case series on effectiveness of embolisation treating adenomyosis was the largest in English literature. It was presented at Society of Interventional Radiology Vancouver in 2016 and is now published in 2018 ANZJOG.

He enjoys sailing and playing tennis. He would love to travel to see the rest of the world.
